Plastiserve can source and supply virtually all grades of ABS pellets for use in your moulding, manufacturing, and engineering projects. Order from a single bag to a full truck and enjoy fast delivery and reliable service from experienced polymer suppliers.
ABS is a strong, impact-resistant plastic that is often used in structural applications. Its rigidity, toughness and glossy finish make it one of the most widely-used thermoplastics.
ABS is available in a range of melt flows, 20-35 being popular with injection moulders. Modified grades offer improved flowability, colourability, impact strength and finish. Flame retardant, platable and reinforced grades are also available.
Clear MABS grades can also be supplied.
ABS can be processed by injection moulding or extrusion. Some natural grades are easy to colour whilst others have a strong straw base colour that can be difficult to overcome, especially when colouring to white or lighter colours. Flame retardant additives can also be difficult to overcome.
ABS should typically be dried for 8hrs @ 85°c before processing.
Due to its physical, mechanical and electrical properties, ABS is a popular choice for products such as computer and electronic housings, auto parts and fascias, domestic appliances, sanitary ware, telephone handsets, pipe fittings, luggage and toys. ABS is also frequently used to extrude 3D filament.
ABS has poor weather resistance so is not well-suited to outdoor applications with anything other than a short lifespan.
ABS can be readily recycled and ABS products carry the recycling number 7.
ABS produced from bio-based and renewably sourced styrene monomer has recently been brought to market.
